With green glass enameled wreath. At base is raised relief Red Cross motto 'PATRIAE AC HUMANITATI' (For Country and Mankind). Reverse is attractively toned as only sterling can do....a shimmery rainbow patina. Two raised relief dates on the back being the year that the Austrian Red Cross was founded '1864' and '1914' the year that this award was instituted. With clean ribbon in bow tied configuration. Suspension clasp on front is marked with jeweler's hall marks. Comes in 3 1/2" square white cardboard carton with printed red cross on lid and this award's designation. Note too the letters 'KD' for kreigsdienste or 'wartime service'. Inside is lined with plush ivory shade velvet and is recessed at top to hold bow ribbon.
