G741.)CASED, NAME-ENGRAVED, 1914 IRON CROSS 1st CLASS: a fine, deluxe specimen of the '14 EKI, vaulted, three-piece construction. Smooth, black-finished, magnetic center. Well detailed and crisply struck. Super-fine example. Finely detailed beaded edge to silver frame. Reverse has wide, high quality silver hinge and flat, blunt silver pin. Reverse is darkly toned with patina. Jeweler, machine engraved on the back with elaborate details being recipient's name 'Gen. der Inf. FRHR. OTTO von HUGEL' and date '02.08.16'. Comes in 2 3/4" square black leatherette case with silver embossed EKI design on lid. Functioning spring button catch at front. Inside of case is lined with plush purple velvet and is slotted to hold hinge/pin assembly. Upper interior is lined with padded white fabric. Case is intact and shows light wear and age. Engraving is indeed original period; recently examined and approved by two of the hobby's top experts. EXC++++
