At top is printed title 'IM NAMEN DES DEUTSCHEN VOLKES' (In the Name of the German People). With typed details naming 'dem Sanitats-Oberleutnant' (medical lieutenant) 'Herrn Veli Illmari Rantala'. Dated 'BERLIN den 20 Marz 1944'. With crisp and bold eagle/swastika embossed seal at lower left corner. Document is housed in its elaborate, high quality folder printed on the front cover with large gold national eagle. Comes with 8x10" typed letter to this medical officer from German army General der Infanterie Waldemar Erfurth and is dated 'den 23.8.1944'. Heading on this letterhead is from the German commanding general of armed forces in Finland 'Der Deutsche General beim Oberkommando der Finnischen Wehrmacht'. This letter has typed greeting 'Sehr geehrter Herr Oberleutnant!' (Very Honored Lieutenant) and the narrative congratulates him on the receipt of this prestigious order on behalf of the German people  and the senior command of the German armed forces. States that he has the honor and joy to bestow this award and wishes the doctor heartfelt best wishes. Signed in genuine fountain pen by General der Infanterie Erfurth.
