G654.)GERMAN ARMY 1943 POCKET CALENDER AND DEATH NOTICE: a very unique offering being a 1943-dated pocket calendar that's badly shrapnel damaged. It's with the paper envelope used to mail this personal property to the KIA's parents back in Germany. 3x5" green-covered day timer calendar for the year 1943 and filled with notations and entries along with names and addresses. Note the 1" wide gash at the top and a smaller hole along the binding area. Inside are four black and white photos showing this German army infantryman with comrades along with three other shots showing him in National Labor Service (RAD) uniform from the time of his compulsory 6-month Reichsarbeitsdienst service. Comes in 4x6" 'Feldpost' military mailing envelope with typed details to his father 'Herrn Wilhelm Weismuller' located in Hanau. This envelope was mailed from one of his NCO's 'Hfw. Walter Schmidt' (that would be for senior NCO rank Hauptfeldwebel). Note too the 'Feldpost' number which is for the 953rd Grenadier Regiment. Comes with his death notice showing his photo of him in uniform with M43 cap and '39 Iron Cross motif. Named to infantryman 'Grenadeier Karl Weismuller' who was killed-in-action on the Eastern Front ('im Osten') on 6.4.1944'. Below is an entry from the German army Feldpost number website.
