G916.)3rd RCH GERMAN FIRE PROTECTION POLICE STEEL HELMET: in a great state of preservation being the steel helmet of the civilian fire fighting service (Feuershutzpolizei). This is the M35 civilian type helmet, so-called 'duck bill' front and with double ventilation grommets at sides. Smooth black enamel finish is pretty much intact and shows only minor wear and age. Police eagle decal shows some wear and age, national colors swastika shield decal is 100% intact. Beautiful coffee-with-cream shade pigskin leather liner, soft and supple and intact. Has leather padded cushion in crown. Black leather chin strap -- soft and supple and completely intact -- is snugly fitted over the shell's front visor. American GI inked the date that he picked this helmet up along with the location 'Feb.8 1945, Pfaffenheim, France' (a town in the French Rhineland on the German border). He also put German name too 'Adolf Schickelgruber' which of course as we all know was AH's father's last name in 1876. EXC++++
