OC687.)BRITISH FIELD MARSHAL MONTGOMERY SIGNED LETTER: a gem indeed. 5x8" fine watermarked stationary paper engraved at the top with Montgomery's postwar address 'ISINGTON MILL, Nr. ALTON, HANTS' and his phone number (his home in Hampshire from 1947 until his death). Letter is dated '30 November 48' and is written in his own hand -- both sides -- in india ink. Letter is addressed 'My dear Stewart'...and thanks him for the box of  chocolates and encourages Stewart to come and visit Montgomery should he ever return to England....'there is much I would like to discuss with you'. Letter is boldly signed with 'Yours very sincerely' and 'Montgomery of Alamein, Field Marshall'. This fine stationary is watermarked (hold it up to a light source) 'British Royalty Parchment'. In a superb state of preservation; letter has been folded at center and has one tiny 2mm wide spot on the reverse. EXC++++
