US115.)CASED 1905 GAR 39th ENCAMPMENT MEDAL: Union Civil War veteran's medal for the 1905 39th encampment medal held at Denver, Colorado. 7" long elaborate and handsome, quality, medal with massive pin-back clasp at top showing bucking bronco and glass enameled 'GAR 39th National Encampment'. A so-called 'ladder' badge with four different progressive components all connected with chains and loops. Has frosted gold claps with 'DELEGATE', massive frosted gold American eagle at base with glass enameled American flag and 'GRAND ARMY OF THE REPUBLIC, DENVER 1905'. Medal has long, yellow, heavy silk ribbon. Back of pendent is marked with premiere maker 'THE WHITEHEAD & HOAG Co.'. Has paper label too on the back of the clasp at top. Comes in hinged 3x9" dark green case with functioning spring button catch at front. Interior of case is lined with padded white silk. A spectacular piece of workmanship. EXC++++
