OC1002.)WWII IMPERIAL JAPANESE ARMY INDIVIDUAL SOLDIER'S FLAG: a real battlefield pick-up, looking the way so many of these can be having gone through the Pacific islands campaigns. Heavy white cotton and soiled and aged from use, a few holes and heavily covered with black ink Japanese characters being good luck salutations, patriotic slogans, warm best wishes from loved ones. Dimensions are 29x32" and has reinforced tabs in corners with tie cords. Aged. Brown stains which appear to be dried blood of course. These flags were carried in individual soldier's kits and revealed when GI's and marines searched for souvenirs. Not pristine and perfect.....it's just as it came home from some really tough fighting. If only this flag could tell its story.
