US1010.)WWII US ARMY M-1 STEEL HELMET WITH CAMOUFLAGE NET: a really nice example. Shell is finished with the wartime rough cork aggregate application. Pretty much intact with only the slightest of wear and age; wear around the rim. Has rim front seam which dates this shell to pre-November 1943. Flexible chin strap loops. Canvas duck chin strap is the early type of lighter shade khaki #3; has black-finished hook-and-claw release buckle. Liner is wartime contract marked inside the crown to the Westinghouse Mfg Company. Has wartime lighter khaki canvas webbing, brown pigskin leather sweat band that's mildly worn and shows evidence of use. Leather is soft and supple and not distressed. Has snap-in neck harness. Note too that the liner was painted with a white application....immediate post-war Nuremberg occupation period. This white application is very old and original and not a modern fantasy. Liner has its original brown leather chin strap -- soft and supple and intact -- snugly fitted over shell's front visor. Great helmet, superb all around. EXC++++
