OC857.)CASED WWII JAPANESE PHOTOTELEMETER: a complex timepiece that's used to determine the distance of enemy artillery. Hence the name 'photo' (for flash of light) and 'telemeter' (time meter). A beautiful period time piece, 2" wide face with glass covering. Has white enameled dial with black numbers showing time in seconds, hours and distance in meters. Ticks and sweeps along beautifully. I've had it running here for several hours without any issues. Face is marked with Japanese maker 'SEIKOSHA'. Nickel body with hinged reverse. Comes in 4x5" hinged wooden case with elaborate silver catch at front. Lid is printed with black Japanese characters. Inside is recessed and lined with woolen felt to perfectly accommodate timepiece. Inside is die-struck with Japanese characters. In a beautiful state of preservation. EXC+++++
